Lotte and LG announced on the 30th that they had conducted a 1-to-1 trade between LG’s Son Ho-young and Lotte’s Woo Kang-hoon.
Lotte recruited Son Ho-young, who has hitting ability, to strengthen its right-handed infielder lineup.
Son Ho-young, who graduated from Chunghun High School, signed a minor league contract with the Chicago Cubs in 2014, but did not make it to the big league. Afterwards, he joined LG as the 23rd pick in the 2nd 3rd round of the 2020 Rookie Draft, and recorded a KBO League career batting average of 0.250, 40 hits, 4 home runs, and 23 RBIs.
Lotte said, “Son Ho-young is a resource that can compete for the starting infield position, and he can also play as a defender, pinch runner, and pinch hitter. “He has high utility,” he said.
Son Ho-young will join Lotte’s first team squad on the 30th.
Right-handed sidearm Woo Kang-hoon, who graduated from Yatap High School, was selected by Lotte in the second 5th round of the 2021 rookie draft. He debuted in the first team last year and appeared in 4 games, posting an ERA of 7.50.
