‘100% chance of advancing to the championship’ KB Stars, led by ‘Park Ji-soo’

Cheongju KB Stars defeated Bucheon Hana OneQ to move one step closer to the championship game. 

The KB Stars defeated Hana OneQ 62-52 in the second game of the quarterfinals of the 2023-2024 WON Women’s Professional Basketball League at the Cheongju Gymnasium on Wednesday. 

With the win, KB Stars is just one win away from the championship game. KB Stars will advance directly to the championship game if they win Game 3. So far, the team that wins the first and second games in a row has a 100% chance of reaching the championship. 

Hana OneQ’s chances of advancing to the championship match were red. After losing Game 1, Hana OneQ will have to win Games 3 and 4 at home and then play Game 5 at home. It won’t be easy. KB Stars is a strong team with only three losses in the regular season. 

Park Ji-soo led the way for KB Stars with 17 points, 22 rebounds, and five assists, using her height to her advantage to lead the team’s offense. Kim Min-jung also scored in double figures with 10 points in just 17 minutes of action, while Kang Yi-seul added seven points. 

Hana OneQ failed to utilize its sub resources, despite Kim Jong-un, Shin Ji-hyun, and Yang In-young combining for 44 points. Ko Seo-yeon and Park Jin-young played 4:13 and 13:01 minutes, respectively, and the rest of the rotation was not given the opportunity to play. 

In the first quarter, Hana OneQ took the lead. Kim Jong-un and Kim Sion combined for 10 points, while Shin Ji-hyun and Yang In-young contributed four points each. For KB Stars, Park Ji-soo and Kang Yi-seul were the main scorers, but the rest of the team managed just two points. Hana OneQ took an 18-15 lead at the break.

KB Stars drove a wedge into the game in the fourth quarter. This time, all players contributed to the scoring. Hana OneQ, on the other hand, relied on Shin Ji-hyun and Yang In-young for offense. The rest of the players failed to score a single point. In the end, KB Stars won 62-52.
