‘Six goals and four assists in 23-24,’ Levandowski’s “worst scoring season in 13 years”

Even a player of Robert Lewandowski’s stature (35, Barcelona) can’t avoid criticism after scoring six goals and providing four assists.

“Nothing special happened to FC Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski,” Germany’s Sport1 reported on Monday (Aug. 8).

FC Barcelona lost 0-1 against Shakhtar Donetsk in the fourth round of the UEFA Champions League Group H match of the 2023-2024 season at the Falksparkstadion in Hamburg, Germany, at 2:45 a.m. ET.

Barcelona maintained a strong 68% possession, totaling 13 shots, but only one on target. Shakhtar, on the other hand, took four of their nine shots on goal, including one on target, to earn the three points.

Barcelona’s failure to pick up a point keeps them at the top of the group with nine points, but Porto’s victory over Antwerp puts them on nine points as well.

In this game, Lewandowski started and played the entirety of the match, but didn’t have much to show for it, recording just two shots and two chances created. His expected goals (xG) was just 0.1.

Sport1 said: “Barcelona lost to Shakhtar in the Champions League and striker Robert Lewandowski failed to score again. He is suffering his worst goal poverty since the 2010-2011 season,” criticizing Lewandowski’s performance.

“Lewandowski is Barcelona’s poster boy, but he’s in the midst of his worst scoring crisis in 13 years. Lewandowski hasn’t scored in double figures since the 2010-2011 season when he played for Borussia Dortmund. He has six goals and four assists in all competitions this season. Last season, he scored 33 goals in 46 official matches.”

According to Spain’s Sport, Lewandowski added: “We need to 스포츠토토 work on ourselves. I hope that in the next game we will improve, especially in attack. We are going through a difficult moment, but I hope we can overcome it quickly.”

“Lewandowski’s last Champions League away goal came on November 23, 2021, in Bayern Munich’s 2-1 win over Dynamo Kyiv,” Sport1 said. It’s been two years.”
