15th Asian Shooting Championships Opens in Changwon, Korea in October 40 Nations Participating

(Changwon=Yonhap) By Kim Sun-kyung Reporter = Changwon City, Gyeongnam, announced on Tuesday that the 15th Asian Shooting Championships will be held at the Changwon International Shooting Range for 12 days from Oct. 22 to Nov. 2.

It will be the first time in 52 years since 1971 (Seoul) that the Asian Shooting Championships, an officially sanctioned event of the International Shooting Federation and Asian Shooting Federation held every four years, will be held in Korea.

The event is organized by the Asian Shooting Federation and co-hosted by the Korean Shooting Federation and the Gyeongnam Shooting Federation.

More than 1,000 athletes from 40 countries will participate.

Athletes will compete in 96 events in rifle, pistol, shotgun and running target.

The event will qualify athletes for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Ahead of the shooting competition, Changwon City plans to establish safety measures such as firearms management and counter-terrorism measures.

“We expect the successful hosting of the international event to help build the image of Changwon as a sports-friendly city,” 스포츠토토 said a Changwon city official.
