The first sentence was handed down last September, and the second sentence was handed down on the 9th.
OK announced on March 19 that it had agreed to a trade that would send setter Kwak Myung-woo to Hyundai in exchange for Cha Young-seok and a first-round pick in the 2024-25 rookie draft. OK claims that it was unaware of Kwak’s court case during the 2023-24 season.
KOVO received a document from OK Financial Group regarding Kwak’s legal punishment and reviewed it before finalizing the schedule for the punishment committee.
As he has been penalized by the judicial authorities, it is expected that a severe punishment will be unavoidable.
According to Article 10, Paragraph 1, Item 1 of the KOVO Disciplinary Code, those who have committed “serious criminal offenses against society, such as sexual offenses (including sexual harassment), violence, drunk driving, illegal drugs, gambling, match-fixing, racism, past school violence, human rights violations, and similar acts that damage the dignity of society” may be subject to disciplinary action from warning to expulsion after discussion by the committee.
In addition to the KOVO discipline, Kwak’s original club, OK Club, is also considering terminating his contract or terminating it at will.
