Mason Greenwood will continue his career in Spain.
“Getafe have agreed with Manchester United to loan Greenwood to the club until the end of the season,” the club announced on its official website on Tuesday.
Greenwood has been touted as one of United’s top prospects for the future. He came through the United youth ranks and made his first-team debut in 2019, earning the full support of the club and its fans.
His progress has been meteoric. He scored 19 goals in the 19/20 season and followed that up with 12 goals in the 20/21 season, indicating a bright future.
Greenwood’s personal life caught up with him in January, when he was arrested and charged with sexual assault and threats against his girlfriend.
A police investigation was immediately launched. The club also launched its own investigation. As a result of the investigation, Greenwood was banned from playing and training.
