‘Hercules’ Shim Jong-hyun, second son of Jung-soo Shim, named to MLB Arizona
Kevin Shim and Jong-hyun Shim, the younger sons of “Hercules” Shim, who hit 300 home runs in the KBO, have been selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks of the Major League Baseball (MLB).
Arizona selected Jong-hyun Shim in the fifth round, 148th overall, on Day 2 of the MLB Draft.
A right-handed hitter at the University of San Diego, Sim batted 2-for-9 with eight doubles and 13 home runs in 38 games in the American Collegiate League this year, while also playing multiple positions on defense, including first base, third base, and right field.
“I’ve been able to perfect my batting stroke by training nonstop with my dad, who was the best player in the game,” said Kevin Shim in a statement to the organization.
