The Korea Professional Footballers’ Association announced on Dec. 2 that it will host a charity match on Dec. 21 featuring former and current K League players to help Yoo Yeon-soo and Shin Young-rok, whose careers ended in unfortunate accidents.
The specific venue and time will be announced later.
Shin Young-rok suffered a heart attack during a K League match in 2011 and was forced to retire from the game after recovering from the attack.
The goalkeeper was paralyzed in October 2022 when he and his Jeju United teammates were involved in a car accident with a drunk driver while traveling by car.
Shin Young-rok and Yoo Yeon-soo were applauded by fans before the start of the first match of the 2024 Coupang Play Series between Team K League and Tottenham Hotspur (England) at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on March 31.
When Shin Young-rok kicked the ball after being assisted, Yoo, who was guarding the goal line in a wheelchair, caught the rolling ball.
“We continue to hold charity matches to lead a football culture where seniors and juniors are respected together and to help Shin Young-rok and Yoo Yeon-soo,” said Lee Geun-ho, president of the KFA.
“We are planning a charity match involving former and current K League players, as well as a donation ceremony and various other events,” said Kim Hoon-ki, secretary-general of the players’ association. 카지노사이트 추천
